I recently went to
http://www.linkedin.com
to edit my profile and couldn't do it, either with Windows XP Pro or Snow Leopard. Both machines saw the save button but did nothing when I clicked it. When I went back to the edit profile page, it still had my old information. I was able to edit it a few months ago, though I saw absolutely no way of leaving groups, but now, it seems totally unusable. I'm using the latest versions of Firefox and NVDA with XP if that helps. Perhaps, I should try JFW or, as much as I hate it, Internet Explorer? This is very annoying!
I just tried editing it with JFW 11 and Firefox and got the same result. The same thing also happened when I used NVDA and Internet Explorer. Something is definitely wrong here. Tomorrow, I'm getting someone sighted to do this and then contacting the NFB, or at the very least, a lawyer whom I know on one of the computer lists. I'm sure she can get the ball rolling. If nothing else, we can start with a friendly letter about the inaccessibility of the site. If they're respectful, then we might be able to get a programmer and testers to help them make it more screen reader friendly. If they don't listen, the legal eagles can do their thing. It's not as if this is some kind of tiny niche site. There's no excuse for this, unless they write back, explain that they really didn't know and then fix it.
Well, it seems that the law crew at the NFB beat me to this one, only they had problems logging in.

So now we can log in but can't edit. On a whim, I entered m. instead of www. and discovered that they have a mobile site. Unlike the regular one, the mobile one requires a capcha. n all fairness, they did make that accessible with an audio version, though the link isn't labeled so you have to just guess which thing that says "link" is the right one. Anyway, I got in and tried to go to profile and kept getting an error message. The details just said "error =0", whatever htat means. I'm just glad that I'm not losing it here and that other people are noticing problems.
Hi. I am using NVDA 2010.2 on a Windows XP machine using Seamonkey as my Web browser, which is based on the code in Mozilla Firefox. I was succesfully able to edit my profile on Linkedin. After pressing the spacebar on the "save changes" button I was able to verify that the summary which I had modified was updated. I haven't yet tried this using Firefox, and I am at a loss to explain why this is occurring.
I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to respond. my internet was out since Thirsday and was only brought back today. In any case, I was actually able to save my profile but only by checking the radio button that used my full name and not my first name and last initial. I also couldn't edit interests at all and had to ask someone sighted to do that for me. She, like me, found it very difficult to leave groups until she learned how to do it. I haven't tried that with NVDA but there's no guarantee that it's accessible either. What is Seamonkey like when compared with Firefox? Is one better than the other?
